Frequently Asked Questions
Why convert PNG to JPEG?
JPEG uses lossy compression and is typically 60–80% smaller than an equivalent PNG for photographs and complex images. Use PNG when you need transparency or pixel-perfect sharpness.
Will I lose quality converting PNG to JPEG?
JPEG is lossy, so some quality is discarded. At 92% quality (the default used here) the difference is barely visible to the human eye. Avoid round-tripping: only convert once.
What happens to transparent areas?
JPEG does not support transparency. Transparent pixels are filled with a white background before conversion.
Is my file uploaded to a server?
No. Conversion happens entirely in your browser using the Canvas API. Your file never leaves your device.
